It’s been an interesting week in my life I have to admit.
Last Friday was my last day as a full time employee and Monday saw the start of janleeks.com, my little adventure in working for myself.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few projects on the back burner, nearly completed that I have been finishing off early in the week, giving me the chance to get some early invoicing out. So that should be two more portfolio pieces ready for the next week or so.
The accountant called on Monday too, and explained some of the finer points of keeping receipts etc, all new to me. It all seems to be coming together now though, i’ll soon have the hang of it.
I’ve squeezed in a few meetings. It’s been very busy. Running all over London, and lots more lined up. Been to see a friends company about the design of a e-commerce site, so starting some early design concepts on that. Have also been to a technology company in Hammersmith, regarding possible workings together. More meetings lined up for the coming weeks.
Also been to see two design agencies who are interested in using my services in some capacity or another.
I’ve had to also do some re-skinning work on Corporate Edges intranet, as well as trying to get the last few pages on my site completed.
Unfortunately I had real-life/business reality check on Wednesday when one of my hard drives (with all my work on) crashed. Although I had backed up, its amazing how much you do in a few hours. Spent the rest of the day trying to get the data back.
Eventually I got everything back, but I had wasted many hours doing so, therefore I’m behind where I should be. This means a full days work on Sunday, so I’ll have to take it easy on the beers later.
I’m just getting my kit together for our football match, and once again haven’t cleaned my boots. We are at home, but due to the first and second XL being at home also we are playing at Church Steet Rec, rather than Jubilee park. It’s the first time I have played a home game away from Jubilee/Barrass for some years.
We won last week despite my best efforts to play like I had two left feet, hopefully I will be a little bit more on the ball this week.
Looking forward to the game, and a few drinks afterwards before cracking on tomorrow, and preparing for a week consulting for Corporate Edge.
best get my kit together
