Hi all,
janleeks.com’s first anniversary recently sneaked me by. I was away working in Abu Dhabi at the time, and although I realised I didn’t really celebrate.
So now almost two weeks late, I feel its time to write something about the first year of my own business.
Well quite simply it has been an excellent experience. For the first half of the last 12 months I was pretty much continuing my old role at Corporate Edge. This was great and I am extremely grateful for the work given to me by CE.
Since last summer, when CE’s requirement for me slowed down a little, I have been out in the big wide world fending for myself. Fortunately word has spread fast, and I have not only been lucky enough to work with some old friends, but make lots of new ones.
It wouldn’t really be fair to single out any particular companies or agencies that I have worked for, with or alongside, I would like to thank you all.
Being self employed has exceeded my expectations by a long way, and I really am glad that I have made this step.
So, been back From Abu Dhabi about a week now, although still continuing the projects that I am working for for my client out there. Again, it’s all under wraps at the moment so I can say little about them.
I was lucky enough whilst out there to meet some different and interesting people, make some new friends and see some of the sights, smells and sounds of Abu Dhabi. I should be going back soon, and that will be great. This time I aim to make the short trip to Dubai too to have a good nose around. (But not do anymore shopping, I did far too much).
Since my return I have gone made and brought an iphone. I have been waiting for o2 to drop their tariff, which they recently have done and so I now have one in my hands.
Its great, a really impressive piece of technology, and not just gimmicks. I am really happy that finally I have a phone that properly syncs with my mac, and I have found porting across from the blackberry easy.
The email is easy to use, and I find using the touch screen a doddle. The email isn’t as immediate as the blackberry, but the interface and integration with my mac completely makes up for that. So far, so good.
Well I have to go now, as I just have so much to do… until next time….
