Well, this week finally saw the end to the recent concentration of annual report/reviews and corporate responsibility reports for corporate edge. There are a couple more to do this year, but recently it’s been non-stop. Some of the fruits of our labour (our being Corporate Edge with my help of course).
First up National Grid: http://www.nationalgrid.com/annualreports/2007/
This rather large collection of HTML pages, full of data tables and graphs was masterminded by my mate Gavin, with me helping out with HTML, graphs, charts and general mad rushed building.
The other recent launch was the SABMiller annual report 2007 http://www.sabmiller.com/results/annual2007/index.html
Another beast, we used flash to show the financials section on this report and I think it works quite well, feel free to have a nose. This time I was lead developer but luckily was helped out by the design skills from CE and my flash actionscript man Richard, thanks one and all… I must update my portfolio….
Yesterday I took delivery of my new Mac Book Pro (finally). I have been waiting for pre iphone apple to find the time to remember they are a computers company first and foremost and give us graphics users a speed/power hike in the laptop area.
OK, word of warning! Beware when trying to use apple’s migration assistant. I spent most of yesterday trying to get my machine migrated from the old powerbook to intel mac book pro. In fact, my user preferences never migrated and just froze time and again on 27 minutes. I finally manually did it all, but the migration assistant in fairness did do a good jof getting the bulk of applications and files across.
Well the machine is purring away today and I have really notice the difference even though I am not yet using native Intel applications…. I’m really please and the little differences from the powerbook range (backlit keyboard, i-signt, front-row) all help with the experience.
I received a copy of Casion Royale in the post last week from Sony after buying the old PS3, for Free! Like it, Free! although the console costs more than £400.00!
Anyway, what can i say about the quality of blu-ray DVD, the future is bright and clear for home cinema. I have watched a few key scenes and I have to say I am mega-impressed.
So what else is happening!?
Been working some more on the gallery site I mentioned before, and lots of bits and pieces for other clients, too small to talk about right now.
And…
No footy, but we may train tomorrow and I need it. Last weekend saw a wedding and a christening, by Monday my body was completely alcoholed out!
Thierry Henry finally left us last week, and like most gooners i had mixed emotions.
Firstly I would like to put a few things straight about TH. He was probably the most gifted player ever to wear an arsenal shirt. He was there is no doubting a sulking, brooding poser who could be magnificent when he fancied it and we will no doubt miss him.
I also have to say that I have been one of his biggest critics. He is never a captain, Tony and Patrick were captains. Toure and Gilberto are captains. Henry needs a bollocking at times, not the whole teams scared to pass in case he throws another wobbler!
Still, I really do think we will miss the great man and I like all Arsenal fans wish him the best in his new career in la liga – bet we get Barca in the champs league next season and that will be intersted, then i want him to have a stinker.
The issue I really have is Wenger not coming out and saying something, we need some reassurance as arsenal fans. Wenger is the best coach we have had, its as simple as that, but if he is going to stay in limbo for another season, maybe (as hard as this is to type), we should start looking for a replacement.
It’s clear that players will only come to us if the manager commits. I read Ryan Babel was being very cool about the approach from Arsenal. How many more potential stars will not join if Wenger decides to go. What about Cesc?
It’s all a mess. I guess I should look at history, and realise that things are never as bad as they seem in June/July.
The young team learnt alot last year and could be great, I dunno. All i know is next season is a very important one for AFC and mr Wenger.
Well i better be off, until next time – see ya
